Hi Lakers,
Here's a recap of the parents' meeting from Monday night. A summary of topics covered is immediately below, and more detailed information is below that in outline format.

- Pool Etiquette
- Swim Suit and Gear Recommendations
- Practice Schedule
- Swim Meets
- Inclement Weather
- Coaches:
- Mariah Prendes, our head coach, is a senior at Lassiter and has been an assistant coach for our team during the previous three seasons. She is available to give swim lessons. Contact her by phone 678-654-8571 or email [email protected]
- Jordan Dunn is our assistant coach and is also a senior at Lassiter. He is new to our team, but was an assistant coach for two seasons in a different neighborhood. He is also available to give swim lessons. Contact him by phone 770-696-3901 or email [email protected]
- Jack Fleishman is our junior coach. He's a rising 7th grader at Mabry who has been swimming on our team since we began, three years ago. He will be helping to coach the four-year-old group and the 5-8 group, and then he will swim with his age group.
- Swim Team and Pool Committee Members - You can ask any of us questions at any time, and if you see anything amiss, please let one of us know.
- Heidi Stephens - Lakers coordinator
- Martha Rothschild - Volunteer coordinator and pool committee member
- Shelley Fleishman - Concessions coordinator
- Liz McIntyre - Pool committee
- Debbie Fisher - Pool committee
- Pool Etiquette - Most maintenance of our pool area is done by our neighborhood resident volunteers. Please help us by following these guidelines:
- No glass in the pool area at all
- Put chairs and tables back where they were if you moved them
- Check for your belongings and trash in your area before leaving
- There is a Lost and Found in the covered porch area; if you lose something, check here as soon as possible because we will be cleaning it out regularly to avoid spreading staph infections
- Swim Suit and Gear Recommendations:
- Swim Suit - we have team suits, but they are not required. You can wear any swim suit that you like. If you would like a team suit, go to All American Swim and tell them you want a suit for the Loch Highland Lakers. They are located in King Plaza, 885 Woodstock Rd, Roswell, GA 30075. (770) 400-9870
- GOGGLES - the coaches want all the kids to have goggles. Please get some if you haven't already. All American Swim (address above) or any sporting goods store will have them.
- Swim Cap - Recommended but not required. We have some Loch Highland caps that we will be selling for $5. See Heidi Stephens at any swim practice to purchase one.
- Practice Schedule - Monday -Friday between now and June 29. If you have to miss practice, it's ok. This is summer swim, and it's a fun league. People have vacations and other sports that sometimes interferes with swim practice, and that's ok.
- 4 year olds - 5:30pm-6:00pm (No practice on swim meet dates, Wednesdays from May 30 - June 27)
- 5-8 year olds - 6:00pm-6:45pm
- 9+ year olds - 6:45pm-7:30pm
- Swim Meets - Five meets total, all on Wednesdays
- Dates - May 30, June 6, June 13, June 20, June 27
- Meets run from 6pm to 10pm; usually we finish before 10pm, but occasionally we run past 10pm. The swimmers need to arrive around 4:30 and 5:00pm, depending whether it's at home or away, in order to warm up and get their events list.
- RSVP - You must RSVP for meets! This is important for the coaches to prepare the lineups for the meet events. Attached is a Word document showing how to RSVP on our website. This document is also available on the website, under the "Team" tab, then Links. You will have to login using the login info you created during registration. Please do this as soon as possible - right now! :-)
- Volunteering at Meets - You only need to volunteer at a meet if you have a child competing in that meet. Please see Martha Rothschild to let her know which meets you plan to attend and which volunteer jobs you prefer. If you are new to swim team and aren't sure what the jobs entail, she can give you guidance.
- Inclement Weather Policy
- Practices - By 4pm the day of practice, I will make a decision on whether to cancel practice or not. If thunderstorms are in the forecast, I will send an email to all parents at about 4pm that day to let you know whether we are cancelling practice or not.
- Meets - We will not cancel a meet for thunderstorms. The league requires us to reschedule a meet if we are not able to get through at least the first half of the events. Because rescheduling is so difficult with so many families for both teams, it's usually better to try to get through the meet on the originally scheduled night, even if we have some delays due to thunder.
- Thunder and Lightening Policy - If the lifeguard or referee hears thunder, he/she is required to get everyone out of the pool until no more thunder has been heard for 30 minutes. If the lifeguard or referee sees lightening, he/she is required to remove everyone from the pool deck. At our pool, that means we have to go out into parking lot and playground area. This applies to practices and meets.
Thank you for joining us this season!
