Practice IS Happening Today plus Housekeeping Info

    Hi Parents,

The weather looks a bit iffy, but I checked the radar, and it looks like the storms will go around us.  So we will be holding practice as per normal this evening.

News about the 5-8 Age Group - This age group is so big and has so many brand new swimmers that our coaches are being spread a bit thin.  To alleviate this problem, we are doing the following:

    • We hired an additional coach, Coach Kate, a sophomore at Lassiter.  Many of you met her last night.
    • We have a few parents who coached swim teams in their younger days who will be helping out with this age group for the next week or so, just until we get the majority of the kids able to swim the length of the pool on their own.  The parents who have agreed to help in this way are Rick Rothschild, Martha's husband, and Kevin Windham, one of Loch Highland's newest residents.

A Mama Duck on Her Nest - In one of the planter beds near the shallow end of the small pool, there is a mama mallard sitting on her eggs, waiting for them to hatch.  We were hoping they'd hatch over the weekend, but it hasn't happened yet, and she gets quite perturbed if anyone comes too close to the nest.  Liz McIntyre marked the nest so people would know to stay away from it.  If you are down at the small pool, please keep your children away from that area to avoid being bitten by Mama Duck.

RSVP for Next Week's Meet - I saw that 17 kids have already RSVP'd for next week's meet.  Everyone else, please do so if you know whether your child will participate (new swimmers will likely need to wait to see how they progress this week).  You can do this on your smart phone.

    Thank you,

    Heidi Stephens
